Worried about DS in daycare

My son is 26 months old and has been in full-time daycare since he was 10 months. The staff recently informed me that he has been biting, most often when he’s excited, in group situations, when he feels his space is being invaded, or when he wants a toy. They also mentioned that he doesn’t socialize much with other children and suggested there could be some neurodiversity involved.

This has never been a concern for me, he has excellent speech, has met all his developmental milestones so far, and interacts well with his cousins, although he can be shy at first in new social situations.

I heard early intervention is key for ASD. Is his behaviour in line with a child with ASD for his age?

Isn't biting a pretty standard issue with toddlers? Not saying it's ok but something many parents need to work on. I wouldn't have thought that's a sign of ASD. Maybe speak to them to get a better picture.

I think they were implying that because biting was brought on when he was in group situations he was ASD
