Is my baby teething or going through a growth spurt?

Hiya :)

My daughter is 3 months and for the last couple of days she has been extra fussing both daytime and nighttime. During the night, she can be restless and cries, which has continued into the day and sometimes she micro-naps. However, there are sometimes she is so tired during the day and has several long naps. She can wake up, interact with me and her dad and maybe have a feed before having another nap.

I thought she might be going through a growth spurt again, but did notice that her gums did look quite red today, but they have since gone back to the usual colour. She has taken to her dummies, which she didn't do before. There has been some drooling.

She has bowel movements and wet nappies. She has spells when it comes to feeding where she is drinking a lot and hungry again not too long after and other times she still drinks, but not as much.

She can focus on things, but can lose interest.

She sometimes feels OK temperature wise, but has had the odd moment of her forehead feeling a little clammy before it could be because I'm holding her/it's warm.

I read online and it sounds like she's teething, but it reminded me of when she went through a growth spurt before.

I spoke with a pharmacist and she thinks my daughter may by teething and recommended this gel (I read the instructions and not too sure on how to apply it to her gums properly), but to speak to my GP if I have any concerns.

Unfortunately, my GP service was closed today due to training. I was going to call the HV, but I lost track of the time.

Any ideas? If she is teething what can I do? Any suggestions?

With babies it's either teething, allergies, growth spurt, developmental leap, sickness bug. It's all the same and by the time you think you've worked it out it's onto the next one.

For teething I would use anbesol and Calpol. Don't piss about with the powders, they're just a placebo.

I think you've just described babies. Try not to worry too much. 💐
