Travel cot mystery?!

I have just turned 9 month old girl.

We went away last weekend.
before this weekend, she would wake 2-3 times a night, want a feed around 12am, and would end up in our bed as I needed sleep as it was happening every night since 7/8 months.

Last weekend, we took a travel cot. She slept through the night for 2 nights and didn’t wake for a feed!!

When we came back from the weekends, she slept through the night for 3 nights and didn’t want a feed.

But since yesterday night, she’s started waking multiple times again for comfort. Doesn’t want a feed though. I’m not sure what’s changed again?!

I was getting used to having a nice sleep 🙃.

I am not sure what’s bothering her? I think she’s hitting her head on the bars - any fixes to that? But otherwise she wakes up regardless if she hits her head on the bar or now.

She has no teeth yet and I can’t see any come through.

If she sleeps better in the travel cot, let her sleep in the travel cot.

Where do I put the cot bed?

My oldest daughter loved her travel cot, would sleep through, we ended up keeping it set up in her room and she slept in that every night until we moved her into a bed.

I just needed sleep and that worked.
we just took her cot down in the end 🙂

What is she sleeping in at home and where?
Was the travel cot placed further away from you than your usual home sleep space is? Sometimes in hotel rooms etc. they're not right up beside you due to space issues. A bit of distance might mean less hearing/smelling you right there beside her which may usually wake her?

Where do I put the cot bed?

Some of this you're going to have to work out for yourself!

In what will eventually be her room? In the loft? In a spare room? Under the bed?

It rather depends on the layout of your home!

Can you put the travel cot in the cot bed?

Ha, I remember having the exact same thing! Kiddo slept brilliantly in the travel cot on holiday so we kept him in there when we got home. The magic soon wore off though...

Honestly, this is just the mystery of baby sleep. You will tie yourself in knots trying to figure out what it was that made your baby sleep well so you can replicate it. You'll convince yourself that it is the travel cot or the specific lullaby you sang or the activity you did just before bed. And it will work a few times and so you'll be lulled in to thinking it works. And then it won't. I swear all babies are secretly laughing at us "watch this, she's reading the story tonight in a really silly voice - I'm going to sleep all night so she thinks it's the story and she'll be doing it in that silly voice every night for weeks!"

(In seriousness, I would say it's possibly that the new environment was tiring - lots of additional stimulation which is exhausting for babies. And then when you came back home it was tiring readjusting to normal for a few nights.)
