Chickenpox vaccine

My DS is scheduled to have his varicella vaccine on his first birthday exactly (we live abroad). It's just occurred to me though that we have lots of celebratory plans in the following couple of days. Are there any particular side effects? He's been fine with all others, the odd fever or pain but nothing calpol couldn't sort. Suddenly wondering if I should postpone (getting an appointment is a pain generally which is why I'm weighing my options).

our kids had it and I don’t remember any side effects
In fact we went on holiday straight after one of them!!!

Nope no side effects here for either of mine. My son got 2 spots but that was as bad as it got

We did not get any side effects but we were told that you can get "breakthrough chickenpox" and a chickenpox type rash might appear. Would you want to go through with your plans if he looked like he had CP?

Just as an aside, you need to be careful with timing of it alongside the other 1yr vaccines - in case you've booked those as well.

I think you're meant to avoid pregnant women who haven't had chicken pox, and people with a weakened immune system.

When my daughter had it I was told it could ‘shed’ and to stay away from anyone with a severely lowered immune system such as anyone fighting cancer. I asked if I should stay away from toddler groups and was told to just live our life as normal unless we knew anyone with a weakened immune system.

My two young boys have just recently had their second dose each. One child had no symptoms at all. Second child, had a bit of a funny tummy for 24 hours after but otherwise all were both well.

@Iloveagoodnap @Fourteenandahalf thank you, my mum just finished chemo a few months ago and she's travelling to us for his birthday. So I will definitely postpone for a few weeks on this basis.
