When does the whining stop?!

My daughter is 4 and it feels like she’s been whining since she was born. I’m not sure she’s even particularly whiny, I just find it very grating!

When does it stop?!

Maybe when you stop classifying her as Property?

I used to say

‘use your real voice’
’I can’t understand you when you moan’
’thats a very sad voice, why are you so sad when you are just asking for some milk?’
’now tell me something happy’

etc. I think it’s a habit.

Some kids are just more whiny. My youngest basically came out whining and moaning. The older one is a ray of sunshine. It does get better as they get older. Mine is now 8 and does still whine but much less so and is able to recognise and stop it when it's pointed out.

I don't answer whining. I request they say it again properly or they don't get anything.

It’s habit. It works enough times where she gets what she wants that she’s decided it’s worth whining. Friend of mine says she doesn’t understand why her daughter always whines because it doesn’t get her what she wants, but from the outside it’s clear that she gets attention for it and gets what she wants in the end… so she continues to do it.
