Moving to Woking

Hello, we are planning to move to Woking looking mainly in the GU22 postcode area. Have seen a few houses nearer to Worplesdon station and we really like one. While research online found some recent land development decisions made by Woking council about converting Green belt land for traveller site accomodations. Has anyone any experience of living near such a site, does this affect your life in any way? My question is coming from a place of ignorance and not prejudice so no hate please. Thank you

You might want to change the title of your thread so that it reflects the fact that you’re asking about living near to a site for Travellers rather than living in Woking. Hopefully you’ll get some answers then Smile

Also you posted this in “Parenting” - did you mean to post it in Property?

About 20 years ago I lived near a travellers site (about 10 mins walk). We always knew when it was occupied as the travellers would use our local swimming pool to shower, they really didn’t bother anyone just took up the whole changing area like they owned it, doing all their personal hygiene.

The travellers site would always be left very, very messy with lots of flytipping and I remember the local community being really annoyed with them.

Do you have kids and what would be the impact on local schools? Worth thinking about
