Potty or training seat for loo?

Ds and i are going to commence toilet training soon and I wondered what everyone thought about potties versus training seats?

He is not keen on the potty as it tends to slide. Also, he is used to us using the loo and knows what it is for.

What are your experiencces of both / either?

Thanks.

toilet and potty.

put potty on mat if it slides.

i have three floors to go up to the loo though so thats why im gonna use both (plus figure its easier to cart a potty around in the buggy for the first week or so than the loo!!! ).

am using a seat only

I used loo training seat for both of mine, easy peasy (but only one flight of stairs)

Personally we only used toilet trainer seats with DS and DD although DS learnt to do his wees standing up (like a fireman, using his hose to put out the fire). DD did usea potty sometimes if at someone elses house whose child was using a potty but at home, we just used seats.
We were recommended to do it that way otherwise once you have 'potty' trained, you then have to 'toilet' train!

Good luck though wahtever you decide.

I am more keen on the toilet tbh because ther is usually one available. I say that, but of course have yet to experience the "I need to go now Mummy" moments, lol!

Use both, Potty easier at first as portable, and "grabable" quickly.Toilets to most children can be a little daunting,as they think they'll fall in! Also nice for them to see a result after all their effort, not lost down the toilet. At least thats been my experience with DS and DD1. Soon to start with DD2,what joy......!

I use both. As we have no loo downstairs I have this potty downstairs as it's comfy and the DTs have more chance of making it there in time and by themselves, rather than having to go upstairs. Then upstairs DS normally stands to wee, like daddy does, and DD2 can either perch on the normal seat or use the insert. We used to have one of these double seats in our old house for DD1 which was great and it was much cheaper then from Boots but haven't got round it it this time!

Yes, might go down the both-at-the=same-time route.

Good links, btw!
