2 year old bedtime

DS was 2 in May, he was never a great sleeper as a baby but most of this year he’d slept 730-630ish.
The last few weeks have been pretty bad, he won’t go to sleep anymore at night , screams and shouts unless we sit in his room, he used to fall asleep on his own before this. He is waking multiple times in the night again and we have to go and sit in the room with him. If we don’t he just stands shouting until we do.
He’s also waking up at 5am everyday. He also use to love bath time and now he’s just crying and whinging all the way through it.

I also have a 5 month old who is up in the night and my husband works away a lot so I’m really starting to struggle with the lack of sleep. DH does the brunt of it with the toddler when he’s here though.

I can’t think of anything that is causing it or anything that has changed in his routine etc. I have tried capping his lunch nap to 60 mins and have tried cutting the nap or making it really short for 20 mins didn’t make any difference.
Has anyone else’s experienced this, could it just be a phase?

We went through this when DD was 2 and a bit. She's out the other side of it now. It's such a busy time for them mentally. Sort of a growth spurt. DH says she's 'downloading her updates!' my guess is that for you it's a phase. Wine, chocolate and you've got this!
