Should i be concerned about my 2 year olds drinking??

My 2 year old girl drinks a lot!!
She has always been a very good drinker, but just lately i and others have noticed some subtle changes, i.e leaking through nappies, wanting another beaker after just finishing one etc.

She has a bottle that hold 500mls and I would say most days she can easily drink around 5 of these plus an 8oz bottle of milk at bedtime. She sometimes sneaks in more water/squash from parents or her brother’s bottle.

She has recently gone through a sleep regression stage. She was refusing bedtime, only sleeping for 5-6 hours over night (not like her) and also missing an afternoon nap. The last 3 days she has seemed quiet and clingy. She has suddenly changed at bedtime and has now been sleeping for a solid 12 - 14 hours over night plus a 1-2 hour nap during the day. Ive told myself she is catching up on the sleep she has missed. Others have said its odd.

Should i be worried about how much she drinks and with her sudden change in sleeping pattern???

It may be just a phase - most things are! - but as increased urination and excessive thirst can be symptoms of diabetes, it would be a good idea to bring her to the GP.

I’d be concerned about diabetes. You need to have her checked out as a matter of urgency.
