My son is 4, since a baby he’s always been a crying baby , constant whiny sounds etc. Milestone all perfect and no delays. He always had some weird issue/ phase that would then stop and another would start. He’s been going to nursery since 1 years old and goes in crying / sad every few weeks. He still cried when I leave for work in the morning- he then spends the day with dad or nursery he stops after 5 mins though and is quite alright. He cries when they said they were doing sports day as he said he can’t run fast and doesn’t want to lose - I did the usual it’s just for fun but he still worried about it all weekend and cried Monday to go in on the day. One he saw it he joined in as normal. He cries on nursery parties as he said he doesn’t want to dance so gets nervous to go in them days too. We don’t force him but say try to join in and he eventually does. Nursery say he is absolutely fine and joins after a quick watch. He just so anxious about things. He cries when it rains said he doesn’t want to get wet. He doesn’t just get on with it like he will cry. Like asks every day what the weather is and if it’s a normal day at nursery , if I’m going to work. Anyone child like this ?

Have you got him a visual timetable of what's happening? Nursery day, who's dropping him off and collecting, any after school activities? Sounds like he's just a bit unsure but does well to find his confidence when faced with the actual challenge - he's doing so well.

it rained a lot this morning and even though I explained why it needs to rain, had an umbrella and wellies he still cried at the nursery door. My mind can’t stop thinking if its anything underlying
