Please recommend me a sling for an older baby

I’ve really loved the Moby wrap until now.

However DD is now 9 months and I no longer feel very secure with her in it.

Any better suggestions?

I have the baby bjorn air and love it. It goes up to ages of 3 or 4.

I also got an ergobaby, it's an older model and I struggle to put it on by myself but it is very sturdy.

I bought them both second hand, brand new they are quite pricey.

I loved my Tula for older babies and toddlers. But try and get to a local sling library to try them out before buying one.

Most areas have local sling libraries where you can try on and rent slings for free (or very little cost) it may be worth looking up, it's usually run by local family services. Great to try before you buy as some of the better carriers can be pricy!

Personally have a tula and love it. Just make sure your fit is safe for boyh you and baby, lots of useful images online ☺️

Alas we don’t have a sling library very close by since Covid, so keep the suggestions coming.

If you really like your Moby wrap you could get a woven wrap. It’s a bit more of a learning curve to learn how to tie it but will last well into toddlerhood.

or get something with buckles that you can use front and back like a Tula, manduca, ergo, etc. Don’t be tempted to go for a toddler size carrier - they are generally more for age 2-ish plus

Lots of sling libraries will post our a sling for hire, so you could still try one or two before committing to purchase. I think some offer online consultations too. I’d really recommend trying one or two - the Baby Bjorn really didn’t work for my body shape, even though it was my favourite on paper. I ended up with an Ergobaby one which was much comfier for me.

I really liked the Tula carrier, and did not like the baby bjorn at all

Manduca. Lasted until DS was about 4! (We only used it at that age when he was either ill, or falling asleep on the way home from somewhere).

Worked for both me (1.55m) and DH (1.75m) so fits a range of body sizes.
