When to use pushchair seat semi reclined?

We have a Mamas and Papas Ocarro. My LO is 3 months, head control is pretty good. He hates being his pushchair. Going out is hard, he just screams 😪 He's very curious and nosy. I wonder if using the pushchair at a semi reclined position might help? I've been told mixed things. Someone in the store said it should be fine as their back is still flat. Will it be putting pressure on his spine? Before anyone asks, yes I've got a carrier and it's not his favourite thing but will tolerate it for a short period. Ideally I'd like him to settle in his pushchair.

I think my little one was 4.5 months when we had to go to sitting up as she kept rolling over and trying to lift herself out

When my baby was 3.5 months I remember getting on the Jubilee line in London and having possibly the worst day of my life. Baby screamed murder the entire time. I just had to pick him and hold him upright and then deal with the pram with my other hand whilst crying all the way home. I think they just get to that age where they don’t want to be on their back anymore. We put him in the reclined posture at about 4.5 months And it was much easier. So hang in there. Or can you use a carrier like a Babybjorn?

Yeah I'd put him in the seat. Did with mine about that age. Both of mine were big strong babies though and only did it for 30-60 mins ISH at a time, treated it a bit like a car seat! That does go against advice though so proceed with caution 👍

My pram has a few different height settings, my DS is 3 months and he is on the slightest incline ever. Same as you, just screams in the pram 😔 this is a bit better now but I can't wait till he can fully sit up x

@sellotape12 I feel for you, I can just imagine how hard that would be. We have a baby bjorn mini carrier. Thank you for replying x

@tangobravo yes this is what I thought too, not any longer than you would a car seat. Thank you

@dontcomeatme So hard isn't it! Glad to know it's helping a bit for your LO.

I thought you could pretty much lay the ocarro seat flat? That might be enough as would mean he would still be able to see (as opposed to bassinet with sides) but would still be flat?

NeedingSleep2154 · 11/07/2025 10:57

@FizzyOranges He doesn't like it flat, we were hoping that would have done the trick, but sadly not!
