My 13 month old DD isn’t really babbling. She was saying dada, yaya, nana and mama. Now she just says mama. She stopped babbling as much when she started pulling to stand, cruising etc. i’m not sure if its related but i’m starting to worry a bit

Give your HV a call and ask for advice. Maybe ask for a hearing test (my 2 year old didn’t babble and he had glue ear)

@Summertime62 Are there any symptoms of glue ear? She can hear me perfectly well (in my opinion) and can hear her favourite songs etc from another room

It can happen that major developmental leaps (like learning to walk) can eclipse other achievements. It’s like their brains put down the things they’ve mastered while they pick up the new and very hard skill. That previous skills aren’t forgotten or unlearned in those circumstances, just benched for a bit! I wouldn’t be too worried that it represents a significant regression, but it’s always worth checking in with your HV for peace of mind.

My DS stopped babbling all but 'Dada' when he was learning to crawl. Once he became more confident with crawling, all the babbling started up again, plus more. I put it down to his little mind being busy with a new skill. Sounds similar to your DD putting her energy into cruising.

Neither of mine babbled, the elder is autistic but the younger didn’t either and was 2.5 before any speech, consequently she was under specialist BUT she’s a grown adult now with no nd, got a masters and doing high profile job.
