Hiya,

Im currently pregnant and have been thinking when i should begin using lotion on my baby’s skin. My baby will be mixed race and me and my partner have decided to use nalas baby on her skin. Although we are unsure on when to start using it.

When would you recommend beginning to use lotion on a mixed race baby’s skin?

Thanks in advance. ☺️

Not all mixed race babies will need lotion - I know Nalas is popular but it still has sodium benzoate in and if I was needing something for my baby’s skin I would look for a single food grade oil. Maybe see how you go?

Congratulations first and foremost.

Mine are mixed race and so am I. I cream my skin everyday and 2x a day when pregnant. Kids get lotion after every bath or shower for the eldest.

We did lotion from the very first bath. Learn some baby massage as well. It's such a calming and bonding time for you and baby.

Beyond a very gentle sponge bath, more of a top and tail and under neck folds bath both didn't have their first bath until their skin completely absorbed the vernix. About 5 days for one and the second was 8 days old. It helps form a natural moisture barrier and of course as all things baby related everyone has opinion. I was told it was completely minging by several people others said I gave baths too early.

We only washes hair once a week and only used a very gentle emollient wash every other day until they were both weaned and food went very where. But they were still bathed daily.

Just don't put anything scented on them as they are hormone disruptors, especially lavender.

I only put lotion on my baby during winter time, during warm days I would only use gentle bath and wash
