Hi Everyone,
So our little one is now 3 and a half months old and was born with a full head of hair which she hasn't lost.
It's getting more unruly by the day but when we've tried hairbands she just pulls at them.
When can you start putting bobbles in their hair?
It's certainly long enough but I wasn't sure about the scalp being too tender.

That hair is sooo cute OP.

My daughter had hair like this and we just waited it out until it got heavy enough to weigh its self down and now it sits flat. My first daughter, albeit it not with as much hair, had hair that stuck up too. I think it was a good while before I used bobbles.

I used to use those hair ties that had no bobbles on, from about 1 year old. I also used to use those wide hair bands to keep it out of the child's eyes. They always seemed to work. A tiny bit of baby oil, the size of a pea, seemed to keep it manageable.

You’d rather have to wash coconut oil out of your DD’s hair than trim it? Seriously?

I think you need to read the OP's posts before being judgemental. She has explained cultural reasons for her choices.

Definitely cut it a couple of times. Helps with growing out thicker hair. I started training my daughter from 6 to 8 months (don't remember exact age but she was definitely under 1) to sit to have her hair done. You have to build up on it gradually. She's 5 now and is no trouble at all. It's my favourite part of the morning routine

We got soft bobbles and did a little “fountain”on top to keep it out of her eyes
then graduated to pig tails

she loves them and only likes her hair up and there’s not real damage to her hair

we got temu special type ones

@sel2223 my dd is 3.5 and never had her hair cut either and social services haven’t intervened yet! 😅

Janeaustenpuzzle · 05/07/2025 07:34

Surprised how many people are saying to cut it, she looks so lovely! I can’t imagine taking a 3 month old to a hairdressers! And as for cutting it myself, it’s stressful enough trimming baby nails let alone hair

MonetsLilac · 05/07/2025 07:34

I know! It doesn't need to be trimmed, it's perfectly fine.

I read that there were cultural issues. In my mind, cultural issues do not trump a baby’s comfort and safety.

I do not think that a baby's safety and comfort is being put at risk here. Many of us have suggested ways to deal with this, which the OP has taken on board.

If you seriously think my babies safety and comfort is being compromised by having hair that sticks up and looks a bit funny then it must be a very scary world out there for you and your kids.
Best you all stay indoors wrapped in cotton wool incase something terrifying happens like the wind blows in their faces or they get a bit of mud under their fingernails!

Your daughters have beautiful hair . My Granddaughter had similar hair with amazing curls until she was three and then had nits 🤦‍♀️My poor daughter had to cut her beautiful curls off ..so sad . Until then she plaited her hair for bedtime.
She didn’t use clips or bobbles until she was about a year old because she was worried about choking ,if baby grabbed the accessory and into her mouth.
