How tall did your long baby become?

Since birth, my daughter has been tracking at 98th percentile on length. She measured big during pregnancy, too. She's now 6 months. As far as I can tell from Google, how long/tall they are at 18 months is a better indicator of adult height than at this age. Purely out of curiosity, how tall did your long baby get? Thanks!

Not sure if I've put this in the right section - apologies if it should be somewhere else!

Apparently I was so long as a baby they measured me twice. I was on the tall side as a child, but not exceptionally so. Now 5ft10. My DCs were also very long - one 98th and one over that. Both are now tallish but not particularly tall i.e in top third of their class for height.

I used the calculation in their red book and it turned out right, DD 1.78m DS 1.94m

6foot tall at 19 ..... can't remember what the red book said🤣

Kneenightmare · 29/06/2025 08:17

DS was 99th percentile and went straight into 3 month age clothes at birth. He remained the tallest of his year until around year 5/6 when some other boys hit puberty early and had massive growth spurts. He’s now 6ft2 at age 15 and still growing. DH is 6ft5 so suspect he will be similar.

Bigearringsbigsmile · 29/06/2025 08:19

6 foot 8 😲🤣

Mydoglovescheese · 29/06/2025 08:20

5ft 1in, so not always an accurate predictor

Rowgtfc72 · 29/06/2025 08:21

Dd is 6ft at 18. Was 5ft 11 at 14. Size 9 feet.
Always 99th centile.

wrackmybrain · 29/06/2025 08:33

Son 24” at birth, ended up 6’5”.

Alwaystired23 · 29/06/2025 08:34

My son was very long as a baby, I think one time when I took him to be measured they said he was the height of an average 2 year old, and he wasn't even 1. He's 11 now, he's very tall, taller than all but one of his classmates. He wears aged 13-14 clothes.

Passthecake30 · 29/06/2025 08:35

Dd was 75% - now 5ft6.5. Ds the same - 6ft 3. He had a massive head though and everyone said he’d need to grow into his head!

SumUp · 29/06/2025 08:38

6 ft 2 (male), 6 ft (female)
Both were over 95th centile.

WhereAreWeNow · 29/06/2025 08:38

DD was very long. She's now 18 and 5"10.

MidnightPatrol · 29/06/2025 08:38

Mine was 98th percentile at birth and now as a child has always been fairly average.

But - my siblings and I were all very average heights as kids and are tall adults. So I assume my children will probably follow the same pattern.

Phunkychicken · 29/06/2025 08:40

son 23.5" at birth now 6 ft 2 at 16, we think he's pretty much stopped growing now.

His sister who is 18 was also 98 centile and is only 5ft 3. And big brother who was over 99 centile and put on a pound a week for the first 4 months is now 20, v slim and 5ft 10

Hydrangeadangerranger · 29/06/2025 08:40

99% DD 6 foot by 14

KolaKoalaKan · 29/06/2025 08:46

99th centile 6ft 4in adult but for two years he was on medication that stunted his growth (for an unrelated condition). He’s glad of the stunting! He went straight into 3-6 month clothes.
