Help - baby pooing 10 times a day!!!

Hi.

Sorry to talk about poo, but I am up to my elbows in the stuff at the moment.

My 5 month old baby has been pooing 8-10 times a day now for over a week.

He suffers from reflux and is on ranitidine and a thickener which is added to his milk. He is also on solids, and has been for about 3 weeks.

He had a temperature and some very runny poo over a week ago, and he just keeps pooing. It is a bit firmer now, but not as firm as it was before. He used to just poo twice a day, but this is getting rediculous. I am going through so many nappies and now his little bottom is so sore, it's red raw. I am using sudocrem for that - any other good suggestions?

Does anyone have any idea why he might be pooing so much????

Thank you xxxx

hi, maybe giving him solids befor 6 months has agravated the reflux and medicine is preventing him from digesting his food properly, hence the increase in poo, is he a very hungry baby, i would suggest cutting down solids and revert to milk mainly and see if it improved, this seemed to work on my nephew.

He's not a hungry baby at all. He hates his milk and he's only started to gain weight well since starting solids. That may be what's causing it, but don't want to go back to just milk as he only takes about 16oz a day.

He was 7lb 8oz when he was born and now weighs 13lb. He is so energetic that he needs calories in him!!

It's so difficult to know what to do for the best.

He quite possibly just has a bug, or is teething. Dd (2.3yrs) just had squishy poo for 2 weeks.

Yes, he could be teething. Hopefully things will settle down soon.
