Are my twins on the right track?

I have 16 month old twins (14.5 months corrected as they were born at 34 wks)

They have been walking for a month. They can clap/ wave/ nod “no” when they don’t want something/ give me an object if I say so/ give me a kiss when I ask. They imitate facial expressions I make.

They can kick a ball around do other simple things. I used to think they stim (I know all babies do normally) but they don’t flap their hands or shake their heads much anymore.

The main issue is speech. They can say “mama” “dada” “pop” and they babble all day but they don’t say words with meaning.
I try to narrate everything but they don’t seem to want to imitate me.

Im worried about this

They sound absolutely fine OP. You are doing great.

I had a singleton and then twins. I was always anxious about speech - I do think twins can be a little slower with speech because they get less 1:1 with a caregiver. Just talk to them as much as you can. Sing songs, narrate what you are doing, point out the colours of the cars you see on the road, anything. Keep talking to them. It will come right.

If they can clap, wave, nod for yes, follow very simple instructions like get your shoes or wheres the cat and are babbling? Good eye contact, engages with you by smiling etc and answering to name most of the time? Then they are absolutely fine OP. Speech will come.
