I have a 14 year old son and we came to the village for the summer. His friend cut his hair like Ronaldo and my son wants to cut his hair too but there is no barber in our village. He wants me to cut it. If anyone who has cut their children's hair before can help me, I would be very happy.

Get a bus into the nearest town.

There must be a barber somewhere nearby even if you have to travel? If you've never cut hair before I wouldn't be starting on a 14 year old who has a very clear idea of what he wants it to look like. That's a recipe for disaster.

I learnt during covid that anything other than a buzz cut is much more difficult than you would think and barbers deserve every penny.

If I had the chance to go, I would definitely go, but the place we are in is very isolated.

I also realized that barbering is a really hard job. Summer is here and the weather is very hot. I will cut it but let's see what kind of problem will arise.

I appreciate some areas can be quite remote but surely there's mobile barbers or something? I can't imagine everyone in the village cuts their own hair??

The population of the village is very small and consists mostly of elderly people.

If you live in the UK you can't be more than a bus ride from a barber, it's not France.

Watch YouTube videos and give it a go if they/he/she are insisting, unclear at this point if you have a DS or DD. If the village is that small the embarrassment won't be that bad if its a disaster

But even elderly people get their haircut? I honestly can't fathom that there is absolutely no way of getting someone else to cut your son/daughters hair?

I cut my husbands hair with the machine and my daughters too because her hair is stick straight and fine and she barely has any, so its pretty easy.
I would never do my sons though. He has really thick hair and likes to grow it out between cuts. So he often goes from shoulder length to side buzz cut and top longer. I think thats too ambitious for me.
I think it really depends on what he wants.
