Hi everyone.

Dad guilt here.

So as everyone knows it been a super hot day today so trying to keep the kids, happy and not losijg the plot in the heat has been a tough one.

However weve had a lovely day not screamong or tantrums (got a 5 year old and 2.5 year old)

Toddler had her normal nap and 5 year old spent alot of time drawing with me today as was hot and said he didnt want to go outside (which is fine) but late aftrenoon felt alittle cooler and we were playing catch and toddler playijg with her baby dolls, really nice afternoon.

Anyway we needed to go shop for some bits and bobs and i said if you both behave and do as youre told we can get kfc for dinner as a weekend treat. Anyway, they didnt behave, kept running off, fighting eachother and just generally not listening and getting angry etc which i donunderstand is alittle late in the day and hot so probably werent themselves as we probably werent either. However we keptnsaying if you dont listen we wont go. Then right at the end they just didnt listen and acted out so i said no kfc which obvs made them kick and scream in car. We then got home and they still acting out which then made me and wife get angry and moanong at eachother so she went upstairs (which i understand) but then then the kids kept shouting and crying and hit me also do whoch i then just wrongly starte shouted back, took toys away said no pudding after dinner blablh blah and they both started crying more. The eventaully calmed down and oldest drew me a picture to say sorry which broke my heart.

My wife then came down and told me to just take somentime to myself. Before bed i went up and saod sorry, cuddled them and said inwas rude and then read them books.

But i still feel awful then i heard neighbours moaning ij garden about noise to themselves which was like salt to the cut really. As heard a few times them moaning about kids.

Feel like ive let them down today could of been a 100% lovely day but failed at last hurdle

You sound like a great parent.
you reflected on everything that went on.
you want to improve on your relationship and consider at all times how parent small people (very difficult task)
you also have a partner who recognised you were done and gave you time out.
i wish all parents were like you guys - how wonderful would this world be.

Oh and you acknowledged to the kids what rude behaviour looks like and how important apologies are!!!!
