My DD is constapated, what can do?

Hello. My 5mo DD seems very constapated today. She has been exclusively breastfed until this week when I finally got her to drink from a bottle. Now she has been having a bout 2-4oz per day, of SMA and then breastfed for the rest of it. She is also on 2 small meals a day (yes I know about the whole 6 month weaning etc etc)

Is there anything I can do to help her? She is really straining and going bright red, and only manages to get a tiny bit out. Her poo isn't hard (sorry) but it is alot more solid than usual (has been watery as BF)

Any advice? Sorry if a bit detailed!

A bottle of warm water worked for us. Or you could add a drop of prune juice to it.

If she is on solids you could try making a dried fruit compots (boil up domr prunes, apricots, apples, pears etc until soft and blend) and add iy to baby rice or whatever.

I've heard SMA can cause problems. I've always used Hipp Organic without too many problems.

Good luck.

Now, about that early weaning ...

agree about the prune juice.
If you buy a small tin from any shop, whiz up in a mixer (with the juice) then put tiny bit into ice cube trays and freeze.
put tiny bit in brecky and that will do the trick.
