7 month old nap sleep routine awful

Hi all

Really need some advice for my almost 7 month olds nap/ sleep schedule.

His sleep hasn’t been great for the past couple of months and it’s not to do with 4 month sleep regression as we’re passed that now and he is able to self settle/ has longer naps and falls asleep fine on his own.

Problem is he keeps waking up at 4/5am and then can’t stay awake past 5pm in the evening. Have tried to keep him up later but he just screams until he goes to bed which is difficult as I have a toddler as well.

He also wakes up for an hour or so every night and won’t go back to sleep, it’s like he’s wide awake and not tired. Last night was absolutely awful he woke up at half 1, gave him some bottle but he wouldnt go back to sleep, gave him calpol in case it was teeth but that didn’t help, he was pretty much awake constantly from half 1 until half 5 when my partner came to get him and brought him downstairs for the morning as he just wasn’t going to sleep.

Really need some advice on how to stop these long night wakings I’m absolutely shattered!!

He is on 2 naps a day has about 2 hours in the morning and an hour and a half in the afternoon but the routine is a bit all over the place as some days he’ll wake up at 4/5 and some days it’ll be 6/6.30 so nap timings depend on time he’s woken up.

Switched to 2 naps a day because after the third 30 min nap he would just scream and cry until bedtime and wouldn’t be able to stay awake for longer than an hour and a half after this nap. He is much happier awake after second nap now but means v early bedtime.

Feel like routine needs completely changing but struggling to change it as just stuck in this cycle.

Sorry for long rambling post very tired today, any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Sounds like he's having alot of sleep during the day, could you try cutting his naps a bit, possibly to 1.5hrs each and seeing if that makes a difference?

Yeah could be that, will give it a go thank you!
