Toddler struggles to drink from straw still

Hi everyone I need some advice I have a 15 month old that we have really struggled with feeding and teaching to drink. From the start he could suck the water up from straws fine but he still constantly spills the water out of his mouth. Everything I’ve read online talks about it being a phase however we are at 15 months and it’s still something he does. The only way I can get water down him is through his normal milk bottle.

he’s also overly sensitive to food textures and I’ve noticed he still has a slight rooting reflex. If anyone can give any advice because at this stage I think I need professional help but don’t know how to put myself across and what the issue could potentially be

Have you tried a feeder cup, none of our toddlers liked straws so feeder cup nights and small normal plastic cup during the day

Men just went straight onto cups?

Can’t he just pick up a cup and drink from it? It’s messy while they learn but a useful skill.

I just gave my baby open cups. Never even tried a straw.
