Bumshuffler nappy leaks constantly

My sons has just started to bum shuffle which is great cos he’s had some health issues but it is causing his nappy to leak constantly and he leaves a nice wet trail wherever he goes like a slug!
I dunno if it’s because the nappy is getting pulled in different directions as he’s shuffling or if the liquid is getting squeezed back out again.
Anyone have any suggestions of things that have helped. He had three pairs of wet trousers before lunch today so i need to do something for my washing pile at least!!

I'd be looking at how long he is sat I'm the same nappy. I'm guessing this is disposable - as reusable usually have a leak proof covering. You could try putting plastic pants over the top of the nappy. Or putting a groundsheet down in the main living space. But check how long each nappy is on for first.

Both my DC were late walkers and bum shufflers. No leakage though and it was a long time ago. Nappies have improved. Maybe your DC is a vigorous and enthusiastic shuffler.
Plastic pants as suggested by PP a good idea

How old is he?
You need either a more absorbent nappy or you just have to change him more frequently for a while.

Try a different nappy to get a better fit or change him more frequently? My daughter bum shuffled until almost 2.5 years and we never had a leaking nappy. We used pampers.

You need to change his nappy more often then

mine was a bum shuffler. Never had any leaks. How often are you putting on a new nappy?

My guess in compression leaks so even if the nappy isn't full it's under pressure in certain places forcing the liquid out. More frequent changes would help. We had a bum shuffler but used cloth nappies mostly and did have to add extra absorbency. The nappy Lady has advice of cloth nappies and in how to stop disposables leaking by adding elements of cloth nappies to them like a high absorbency booster inside and/or waterproof wrap over the top.
