Does anyone have any experience with DLD and how to deal with it?

This is far more common than people think.

Children with DLD need images, icons and visuals to show understanding. Questions need to be considered and limited to the right level, and it's better to comment, repeat, expand and explain more often then asking.

You can teach key words and word learning skills and encourage repeated exposures.

Schools should have a specialist somewhere in the local area they can request support from.

DLD was previously known as Specific Language Impairment. I Can have some great resources including this below.

Thank you i will take a look! My dss is 7 and he cannot speak properly nor can he understand even basic things we say to him, like he cant even remember the names of simple things which means he isn't learning to do anything as he doesn't understand.
