Should I move school?!?

Hello.
My child is 7 and in year 2. The school isn't great. Had a previous good reputation but has gone down hill. Alot of violence and many children with additional support. Had a meeting with the HT and she admitted it's a difficult year. Dc is happy there though on the whole. He's staying there as he had / has 2 close friends. However he is not overly close to then anymore. He's behind in maths and thinks he's crap! Teacher is wishy washy at best. We do submit homework online. This hasn't been checked for a month. Also school numbers are so low they've laid a senior staff member off as they cannot afford her.

Are there better schools in the area?

Yes I have contacted once. They're full. I have emailed another to enquire.

I would. 4 years is a long time in a school like this. Are there any schools that are just infants in the area so he wouldn't be the only new one moving into year 3? It seems a good time to move as he goes up to ks2.

No they go all the way through. The only issue is dad has no issues with the school. We're separated so could be difficult. I just feel everything is lacklustre. My son is very sociable and gets on with people well.

I also helped at a school disco and witnessed behavior that really worried me.

Kids are leaving in droves

Where are the other kids going to? If there are better schools in the area with a place, get a place now before they’re all full due to the other kids leaving this school.

I have approached a school that had a good name. They can let me know by 2nd July if it's a goer. It's convincing my child now
