My little girl (8) has recently auditioned for the Royal Balley associates ! She is a beautiful dancer and so determined but I have no idea what her chances are of being successful! We are due to get the results and day soon and she is super nerevous / excited. As she is so determined I know she will be very hard on herself if it’s a no (I’ve told her the acceptance rate is only 10% and explained this in a child friendly way) but just looking on advise on how to break it too her if it’s no?

Acceptance into the royal ballet associates is highly related to body type. Unless your daughter is very slim, with long legs and a short torso she stands very little chance. The best thing is not to make auditions into any big deal. Let your daughter know how competitive ballet is and that each school is looking for different things in a dancer. And that just because RBA may not offer her a place is no reflection of her ability or potential. Other dance schools eg Tring or BBA may love her! Good luck to your daughter!

Thank you! She does the perfect dancers figures very slim and dainty (not sure where that came from 😂) she has already successfully auditioned for Elmhurst associates! Just the thought of of having to tell her no is not a nice one but unfortunately that’s life as she’ll no doubt find out

Results are out by the sound of it, contratulations to those with places, waiting list places and online classes, commiserations to the no's. It isn't a 'no' forever, just a 'not this time', so keep going and have another go next year. People do get places after trying multiple times so don't give up. There are so many talented youngsters and too few places.

No luck for her this time, she’s very disappointed but already had a yes for another ballet associates so keep bring up how amazing she did to get that!
