Dressing babies/ toddlers for changing weather situations.

I have never seen any guide lines on this topic and that is keeping the child cool in hot weather or vice versa. The tendency is in a lot of cases is to play safe and pile on outdoor clothing and/ or pram bedding whatever the weather. The very worst example I have ever seen, and this was on the hottest day of a scorching summer in Buxton. There's this mother extracting a howling newborn from it's pram. The pram piled high with assorted blankets and wraps topped off with a rain cover. The poor baby swathed in all kinds of woolies and shawls screaming it's head off. I stopped myself from offering any help or advice hoping that common sense would prevail. It was after this that I realised that toddlers are no better off. Winter coats and jumpers are a definate no no in hot weather.

I'm not sure what your question is, but I think it's common sense to dress your child appropriately for the weather....?

Unfortunately there are many who lack common sense in many areas of life.

My children run cold from babies and would usually always have a cardigan or jumper on. It would probably need to be over 24 for them to have only a top and no jumper.

The rule of thumb is one more layer than you.

My toddler won't wear a coat when it's bloody freezing and blowing a gale, never mind when it's hot. These people while lacking common sense must have some kind of superior toddler wrangling skills...

My 2yo wouldn't wear shorts in the middle of a blisteringly hot summer in the south of France until we rebranded them 'little trousers'.
