how long have you been given up?

SmugColditz · 21/05/2008 21:18

Patches

best thing you will ever do. Be easy on yourself. Do takeaway for tea for a few nights, let them eat toast if they want, make bedtime a non issue ... just make life a holiday for a few days.

deaftowhingeing · 21/05/2008 21:20

Squonk, 2 weeks lol

Had hypnotherapy, seemed to work at first. Actually, don't really want to smoke, just got overwhelming monsterlike traits that I'm sure weren't there before when I was an evil polluter...

bloody well done!

next week might be tough, but get through that and you've cracked it!

A lot of people recommend excercise - apparently the adrenaline rush is similar to a nicotine rush (or it fools your brain into thinking it is) and you don't get that crabbiness.

Of course, I never tried exercise, twas easier just to yell at everyone

deaftowhingeing · 21/05/2008 21:35

I've got a sodding sore throat from all the yelling... worse than smokers throat!

You know the monster mum characteristics? They were there before. Its just when they began to surface, the smoker would go in the garden and have a fag and calm down. Once stopped there is no "escape" so the monster erupts.
Just go in the garden anyway, take a few deep breaths and then return.

Not sure that is very clear, think it makes me sound like an oddbodd But it worked for me. I still got my 10 minutes escapism every couple of hours and have now been stopped 3 years.

SmugColditz · 21/05/2008 21:49

yes, have a cup pf tea and be as unditurbed as you would have been outside taking your vent

fryalot · 21/05/2008 21:50

studies have shown that a smoker's stress levels are like this:

//////////////\

and obviously, you have a fag when they are high, and it brings the stress down.

However, a non-smoker's stress levels are more like this:

so never get to that HIGH level of a smoker's.

You are currently like this:

/\~~~/\~~~~/\~~~

but soon you will be:

<span class="underline">_</span><span class="underline">_</span><span class="underline">_</span><span class="underline">_</span><span class="underline">_</span><span class="underline">_</span><span class="underline">_</span><span class="underline">_</span>__

I promise.
