CMPA symptoms?

Hey mums!

Our little one is 5 weeks old and we're struggling to ascertain whether she's showing general fussy / newborn behaviour or something more is going on!

Some of the symptoms we've been struggling with;

  • Gas issues. Really struggles with wind.
  • Poos. I think her most recent one looks a little mucus-y. Picture attached, sorry! She poos once a day.
  • Yesterday evening she cried/screamed for about 1.5 hours immediately after each feed. She doesnt cry as much after feeds during the day.
  • Baby acne (confirmed by doctor). We saw a tongue tie specialist who thought it could be a rash. Sometimes it does get redder after she's eaten.
  • Hoarseness - she can sound very hoarse and congested, especially when feeding but this can last all day. We've tried the Frida nose thing but nothing comes out.

She doesn't have much spit up but does have 'bubbles' around her mouth - thinking silent reflux perhaps.

Shes on Hipp organic formula.

Thank you!

Hi op,

Had these same few worries about my new baby!

Gas issues - does she burp after every feed? That would be totally normal, likewise if she cries after a feed and settles after a burp

Poo - nappy looks normal, and once a day is great, any less than once a week is considered constipated

Crying in evening - could be the witching hour, where babies cry more towards the end of the day. Babies are just meant to cry more as they get to 6 weeks and then start crying less after that

Baby acne - did the doctor confirm this? If so, totally normal and clears up in a few weeks.

Can't comment on the hoarseness though!
