Advice on new dad gifts

My DS and DiL are expecting their first baby in November. DS’s birthday is coming up and he’s said he’d love some new dad type gifts. Given that it’s 30+ years since I had children, I’d really appreciate some ideas on what’s available and what’s appropriate!. Thank you!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Someone bought DH the Haynes Manual for babies which we actually used a few times as it was very easy to find the information that you needed when you’ve got a screaming baby.

How about a Baby Prints decorating session at Emma Bridgewater or a pre-baby photo shoot with a local photographer?

Edited because I managed to mess up the links.

A lot of ‘dad gifts’ are really cheesy and awful, but Dh has a few coffee mugs with dc’s photos on them from when they were babies. Eldest is a teen now and he still uses them regularly. I suspect they were from Moonpig.

Thank you both - some useful ideas there!

Travel mugs are a great gift if he drinks hot drinks. Means you can drink a tea or coffee without risking hurting the baby and obviously it stays warm. A voucher for a baby carrier (or a baby carrier) is another good one, my husband found the carrier extremely useful and you see a lot of dads wearing them nowadays.

How about a rucksack that he can use as a nappy changing bag?

Baby carrier that he finds comfy.
Cook meals for freezer
Decent water bottle or travel mug

Baby bath stuff

The travel mug and rucksack are great ideas - thank you all for taking the time to reply

Why is he getting a gift?
If it is a new thing just get him a sling so he can walk around with a baby and give mum an hour

Here is a great gift for new Dads that you should check out: The Dad Hoodie. I've gifted it to a few of my mates and it's always a huge hit.
