Backpack/rucksack recs for 8yo

My 8.5 yo DD said to me the other day that she found her rucksack a bit embarrassing. I was like “Oh but it was £30 from a really nice shop” and then realised that she’s had the same one since she was 2 years old! We live overseas and shopping for kids is awful. What brands/rucksacks would people recommend for an 8yo and 6yo DS? Would like something ergonomic/good for posture etc but that’s also nice (not too tacky/Disney etc). Thanks!

What does DD want, and what's popular locally? These things can be very local.

Kids walking rucksacks tend to be better ergonomically, but if they're not carrying much weight in them or carrying them for that long, that's maybe not critical. And they do tend to be a particular style that may or may not suit, although you can customise with iron-on transfers, key rings on the zip pulls, etc.

Hype popular among the older kids

Kanken is popular but a bit pricey. The kids that visit our school from Europe also have them.

My Ds is 5. He’s had one from Jack wolfskin the last year or so and uses daily for kindergarten here.

They do various sizes and styles so your 6 year old would probably need a smaller style than 8 year old .

At 6 & 8yo, isn't 'tacky' exactly what they're after? Embrace the unicorn-vomit awfulness before they start feeling the need to conform to teen ways and turn all boring! Mine had/have garish Smiggle bags at that age. DD1 is 11yo and now has a plain black Nike bag like almost every child in her middle school (the ones who don't have a Nike bag plump for a plain black Under Armour instead).

Decathlon have some good ones. Bright colour and hold quite a bit too

Thanks everyone! The Hype ones look great as tons of styles for her to pick from, thank you!!

Current bag is a unicorn, so looking to bridge between total tack and boring scandy normcore!

thank you!!
