Almost 4 week old baby

I have an almost 4 week old baby. This is my 3rd child. My other 2 children are teenagers.
I just wanted to feel less alone and hope that some of you here can tell me you’re going through the same thing.
I know it’s still really early days but I am in the thick of newborn life. I’m tired, the house is a mess, can’t get anything done and my baby won’t be put down and it’s hard going!
most nights from after teatime my baby is so unsettled too. My nights are consumed with trying to settle her. She wants feeding one minute then not, then it’s like she has belly ache then she gets SO overtired but just cannot sleep.
anyone else in the same boat right now? I need some positivity to help me through!

Oh my. I could have written this when my DD was that age, then one day she just wasn’t unsettled at that time any more! (She’s 7m now) The first 3 months is an adjustment, but one day you’ll wake up, take a deep breath and think ‘wow we really have this under control!’ It’s really true that the days are long but the weeks are short. You have this OP 💪

thankyou 💕 everyday I’m constantly telling myself that this isn’t forever and that I can do it!
I know I can because I’ve had 2 babies before but it still doesn’t mean it isn’t hard. I wish that she would be put down a bit more but I’m trying to embrace all of the cuddles because one day I’ll want them back again.

Yeah exactly that, you’ve done it twice before. We have a 3yo though and we forgot even in that short time 😂 we found one of them electric rocker chairs a life saver for putting her down in. Also trouble shoot if there is anything in your room that’s stopping her from sleeping. For example DD is a November baby & we realised she was completely over stimulated by our Christmas tree so had to use a cosigo if she was in the bassinet! Also sling her around the house if you need to, ours helpfully hated the wrap sling but was ok in a baby bjorn mini! Good luck op, it’s not easy in these early days xx

Thanks so much. Hearing from someone else really does help. My last 2 were 16 months apart! So I know that I can get through this!

You’re not alone. I feel the same and some days I feel like I’m losing the plot! My son is 5 weeks and I don’t even know what day it is anymore. Don’t even have time to wash my hair anymore lol. It’s so busy constantly, running around after my toddler changing nappies on both of them, washing and sterilizing bottles etc. and the amounts of laundry omg. Then there’s a crying baby, trying to put him to sleep, feed him etc. The list is long… Don’t have time to clean the house properly and some hot meals are eaten cold and I don’t even care anymore.
And then there’s the sleep deprivation!

But I know it’ll get easier soon so hang in there ❤️

I am exactly the same! Every shower is the quickest shower I’ve ever had! My meals are always cold and usually eating them with one hand. I’m trying to still be a good mum to my older 2 but it’s proving very difficult as my life at the moment is consumed by my baby.

we’re in the thick of it at the moment but we are owning this and before we know it we will be on to the next stage. Sending lots of love and sanity xxx
