HELP! 1 year old bug 3 days and won’t sleep

Looking for any advice from the MN community. Our 1 year old has had some sort of tummy bug since Thursday. Vomiting, lethargy, not keeping anything down, and he’s very unsettled at night. He’s waking up every hour atleast and just writhing around the bed & crying. This isn’t like him at all as he’s usually very quiet and calm at night, and I feed him back to sleep which usually takes hardly any time and no upset.

We’ve been to a&e 3 times this weekend as I was worried that he had an obstruction of some kind but he’s had scans & all looks clear. Docs think it’s just a bug. Could the bedtime struggles be a tummy ache?? It all feels excessive. I’ve just given him some paracetamol but it hasn’t been doing much over the last few days. His vomiting has lessened, but he’s not a happy chap and I’m really struggling with this level of sleep deprivation.

Any advice would be much appreciated x

Could cuddling up on the couch help? Or cuddling in your bed? Sorry he's so poorly, it must be very stressful.

Sorry no helpful suggestions but also up with a poorly one year old for the hundredth time this week and just wanted to send a knackered fist bump. You’re doing so well keeping him hydrated etc. is your partner sharing the load?

Thank you so much for your replies. He’s already in my bed & definitely maxing out on the cuddles too. Unfortunately my hubbie is looking after our 3 year old who also wakes through the night. But he took him for an hour before to give me a break. I’m just so knackered it’s unbearable. And my poor boy too.

@WitcheryDivine any idea what’s going on with your little one?

Norovirus and rotavirus both cause horrible stomach cramps after the D&V have stopped. I also took my baby to the GP because I was worried about intussusception (baby has just had rotavirus despite being vaccinated last year!). Sounds like that's been ruled out for your LO.
