Its a potty training one

So ds is 2.5 and we've recently started potty training. So far he's more than happy to pee in the potty/ on the toilet when I ask him. I'll ask if he has a pee/poo feeling and he'll say yes I need to go to the toilet and off we'll go. Currently we're on day 4. However he doesn't really suggest going to me, he'll only do it if I prompt and I'm wondering if I can do anything to help with that as I'm only prompting when we get to about an hour since his last toilet trip or if he looks like he needs to go. He did have accidents on the first couple of days so he knows what happens if he doesn't make it to the potty.

My other issue is he usually only poos in his sleep and I'm starting to worry about sending him back to nursery without him having done a poo in the potty. I don't think he's withholding- this would be pretty normal routine for him but I just want to feel like we've cracked that before he's back as he does poo there the odd time and to be honest they aren't always great at noticing he's gone in his nappy so I definitely don't want him having poo in his pants for any length of time. Any suggestions on how I can help him with that?
