anyone had any experience with their toddler slapping and trying to bite you when they’re angry. I know it’s most likely frustration.

im the only person he does it to he doesn’t hit his dad.

I’ve been trying to ignore it and sit him away from me when he does it but it hasn’t deterred him at all.

any advice would be welcome

The only thing I've found works for mine is I tell him it hurts mum when you do that, and to slap/bite the cushion, not mum.

Then it becomes a weird conversation about the sounds he can make when the slaps the different cushions in the house.

He never slaps in a full temper, just more in frustration times. Hope this could help you

Yeah it’s very normal as they’ve got big feelings and can’t always communicate them. It’s just a phase. All you can really do is be firm and say no, and if it continues start introducing consequences like a small time out from maybe about 24 months

Redirect to a cushion or pillow they will grow out of it. You could buy some chewelry incase it’s a sensory soothing thing
