17 month old breastfeeding

Over the last few days, my 17 month old has become obsessed with breastfeeding.

Through the night he is waking 3-4 times and during the day the second I sit down, he runs over and is pulling at my top and crying for a feed.

Is this standard? My eldest was formula fed so I’ve not experienced this before! How long will it last?

I fed my DD until she was three but knocked night feeds on the head at around 11 months
in the day I would distract and it can feel a bit much to have a toddler pawing at you
are they hitting some developmental milestones, teething or just feeling out of sorts? Breastfeeding is massively comforting to children but it’s also ok for you to set some boundaries around feeding

Could be linked to separation anxiety? It hit DS2 a bit earlier than 17 months, but there definitely was a correlation between that and wanting to breastfeed a lot more than normal. I was fine with it because he clearly was going through something.

Alternatively, is he getting enough fluids from other sources? It's hot!

Could he be feeling ill or in need of comfort for some reason? If you say “no food now, let’s have a cuddle and a story/song” would he be ok?
