Finding age 5 tough…anyone else?

Not sure if it’s just the heat making me less tolerant but my DS age 5.5 is really bloody hard work at the moment.
He goes through phases or being hard and then good but this one feels like it’s lasted a while.
He has various things coming up at school and he’s been invited over a friends’ house over half term which him and his friend seem to talk about constantly because he told me today his friend said he’s going over tomorrow and he believes his friend and not me when I say 2 weeks.
If he knows of an event coming up he seems to get stressed because he has no patience and he wants to do it now!
He’s really argumentative right now, loud and full on!
Anyone else have one of these?

@lightcreamer My son is just under 5.5 - he's being ok at the moment, but we had tough time coming up to Easter! Too much to look forward to with the holidays I think - a friend's birthday, sleepover with me at my parents and we went away, plus Chocolate Christmas 🤣

We've noticed we need to tread a fine line between telling him things so he knows what is happening, but not too early as he fixates and gets obsessive about it all.

Thanks @FiveWhatByFiveWhat yes I think you’re right we need to be careful with what we tell him is coming up. It’s difficult when the school tell them something for a few weeks time 🙄and the silly thing is you’d think they’d enjoy looking forward to something but it just seems to stress my DS out and make him difficult to live with!
