What clothes to put baby in

Probably been asked a million times.

It's 23° here at the moment and I currently have our 9 week old in the pram under a parasol - he's in a short sleeved/short legged vest with a muslin draped over his legs, happy and asleep. There's a lot of guidance about what to wear at night, but just wondering what best to put him in on hot days. I know the guidance is an extra layer to what we're wearing, but if public decency wasn't a thing, I'd probably be chilling in my undies right now. We've got to go out in the car later and I'm worried about him getting chilly with the AC on and then too hot again when we get out.

I always used the rule of one extra layer to me. On a hot day at that age I would do the same as you've done in the day and just made sure to keep checking their back to make sure they weren't clammy.

Keep a blanket or cardigan in the car to drape over when the AC is on so you can remove once getting out into the warmth again.

When I had my baby a year ago the midwives said the guidance had changed and it was no longer an extra layer but just keep an eye on the baby’s temperature by checking the feel of their chest / back of neck?

This weather i would go for what you’ve been putting him in already, he might get a bit chilly in the car with ac on so maybe leggings over the top you can whip off when you’re outside? Although unless you’re doing really long car journeys with freezing cold a/c I wouldn’t worry too much.

23 isn’t that warm imo for a 2 month old. Mine would have been in a short sleeve vest with leggings and socks, or a full vest and sleepsuit still. With cardigan added in shade or if cooler.
