Potty training regression?

Our DD is 2 years 10 months. We potty trained her in August last summer, and things went fine. She got the idea very quickly, and then it was just a matter of reminding her. We've had virtually no issues with poo from the beginning (she's literally only soiled herself a few times), only wee.

I wouldn't say she was 100% reliably potty trained but things were consistent (i.e. she'd maybe have an accident if she was overtired, or when waking from a nap if we didn't get her to a loo/potty quickly, and we'd have a few leaks now and then). She's also really independent so will take herself off to the loo, shut the door, wipe, wash hands etc.

Cue the arrival of her brother four months ago. Now we're dealing with odd clusters of accidents and leaks. She'll be fine for a while and then boom, leaks galore. She's even squatted down to just wee on the floor recently. It all seems to have gone to pot, and though it's probably due to her new sibling, I'm not sure how to get things back on track. It's worrying me a bit that she doesn't seem terribly bothered by it, either.

Any ideas?! DS is reflux-y and the washing with the pair of them is killing me!

It’s really normal apparently. I had my second when my first just turned two. He’d been reliably potty trained for 2-3 months ish. A month after getting the new baby home, he started doing similar to your daughter, even deliberately weeing on the floor. And regressed at nursery also.

i don’t know if it’s the right way to handle it, but we put pull up nappies back on for outings and nursery, and then did rewards for using the toilet. And if he had a whole day of no accidents at nursery, I’d make a HUGE fuss and take him for a special treat after - buy a book, go to the cafe and get a cake or ice cream, go to the park etc. I think it was a good couple months of regression, and then suddenly he just started being reliable again

@Unsure4589 how did this turn out? Going though the same currently! Baby is 10 weeks and 2.5 year old is just weeing constantly when she was potty trained and finding it really funny! Doesn’t do it at nursery only home
