AIBU?

I am a new mummy to an amazing, beautiful 10 week old baby. My husband and I have been together for 15 years and have always had a very happy relationship. Since becoming parents, my husband has never changed a nappy or done an outfit change. Never bathed her on his own and as I breastfeed cannot help with feeding. When I challenge him on not helping with things, he says I’m over tired, and as he works (full time and is out for 9 hours per day), I am the parent with the most responsibility. I think nappy changes etc should be 50/50 when we’re both at home and we need things to be fairer AIBU?

No you're not. When mine was a few weeks old my DH was out for 11 hours a day but still came home and fed, changed, bathed the baby. Cheeky fucker, are you supposed to be wide awake, not completely shattered after a full day of it all as well? I'd be putting my foot down and fast

Congratulations on your baby and on becoming a Mummy ❤

I think when he is home he should be helping change nappies at least. She is 10 weeks old and he hasn't ever done it?

My DH worked full time and long days but actually wanted to be hands on when he came home. Nappy changes is a time to connect with baby. My DH would talk to her, make her giggle and give her lots of cuddles as he did those kinds of things.

Does he seem nervous handling such a young baby? How is he with her otherwise? Is it just confidence he is lacking?

I was wondering if it’s confidence too. How would he react if you just passed him the baby and said “your turn” ?
