Tips for flight with 8 mo

Hi we are going away for a family wedding, the flight is around 3.5 hrs and we have never flown with DS who is 8mo before. The flight there is a morning flight and on the way back we land at around 11.30pm. We plan to take lots of new toys with us on the plane to keep him entertained and try to feed him at take off and landing. My worry is that he gets quite bored easily and wants to be on the move/ have change of scene. Also he tends not to contact nap anymore so I'm worry he won't sleep on the plane :/ Please list your top tips for flying with a baby :)

I'm sure he'll be knackered enough from the crazy stimulation that is an airport and plane, and nap on one of you.

Take a sling/carrier for times when you won't have your travel buggy (getting on and off the plane, queues etc)

Little snacks or something to suck on. Pouches, puffs, whatever.

Pack more nappies in hand luggage than you think in case of delays, blowouts.

Spare outfit/s in hand luggage.

Sling for the plane and airport

Snacks for the plane and familiar ones for first few days as well until you find a good store for stocking up

I got mine a couple new small (not noisy!) toys and wrapped them. The unwrapping and the paper is entertaining.

I wouldn’t worry about feeding for take off/landing. It may not be easy to do, but mine wasn’t bothered.

Extra change of clothes for everyone just in case of leaks and vomiting

Make the most of your 2 baby items in the hold. I got a pushchair bag and shoved all sorts in there and zipped it up.

It will be a piece of cake with two of you. I did it on my own and having a wee in a teeny plane toilet with a baby strapped to you is not easy!

Take a change of clothes for yourself in your hand luggage too. Changes in pressure can make babies vomit….

Don’t take too much stuff. Do take clean clothes.
