Too cold for baby??

Off on hols. 23 to 24 degree weather. Is outdoor non heated pool too cold for 18 month old? Will take in the pool after nap during warmest part of the afternoon. Probably for no more than 30 mins each day.

Have a full body UV sunsuit but it isnt thermal or anything.

Do I need to buy a thermal one now? Bought the UV one new aswell recently for hols and have run it through the wash!

Yes the guidance here is that the water should ideally be at least 30c itself. Get a thermal suit.

Yes, it will be freezing!

Hyperquiet · 09/05/2025 20:45

Thanks. I'd better get one asap then. Any recommendations??

Well it depends how cold the water is? They will soon let you know if they’re too cold I’m sure but Even 28/29 would be a bit chilly for your average Joe.

buy a thermal wetsuit just in case.

mynameiscalypso · 09/05/2025 20:45

Definitely too cold. We’re going away in a couple of weeks and it’s likely to be a similar temp and we’ll only be able to swim if the pool is heated (also travelling with a baby).

Apksbdv · 09/05/2025 20:45

I suspect you’ll find that too cold too. At 18 months they’ll tell you if it’s too cold

Pinkelephant66 · 09/05/2025 20:45

Splash about sell them. Not sure how they compare to other brands

Pices · 09/05/2025 20:55

That’s going to be far too cold for more than a splash from the side even with a wetsuit.

coxesorangepippin · 09/05/2025 20:56

Will there be a splash pad

Dreichweather · 09/05/2025 20:58

It would be too cold me for me! Take a small blow up paddling pool, fill it with water from the pool everyday and leave in the sun to warm up and she can play in that.

My local pool is 29c and I wouldn’t want to be hanging around too long it that without swimming.

Piippa · 09/05/2025 20:59

We use splash about fleece lined swimsuits, both at home and abroad, and have done since little one was 12 weeks old with no issues. If needed quickly, you can order them on amazon. You can also get a splash about swim nappy if necessary.

He loves being in the water so I will defo look into getting a thermal suit! I do want to take advantage of the pool while we're there. It's a nice temp not too hot to go away with a little one but the downside is the pool is cold!
