My social worker wants to change the plan from child in need to child protection plan there is no concern for kids safety so I don’t understand what is she plotting. How can I get legal advice as I tried and I can’t find any.

There will be a reason

ACR7 · 09/05/2025 14:33

What has she given as the reason?

Celka · 09/05/2025 14:35

She didn’t give me a reason

she won’t be ‘plotting’ anything. They will have concerns that mean they are seriously worried about the safety of your children. Did you have a child in need meeting where this was explained?

ACR7 · 09/05/2025 14:36

In the nicest way they must think your child is at risk. Maybe it’s not from you necessarily, do you have a partner who has history of anything they would deem a risk?

KilkennyCats · 09/05/2025 14:55

The fact that you think she’s “plotting” against you suggests there’s a very good reason your child needs protecting.
Surely you had the nous to just ask?!
Why does your child have a social worker in the first place, you must know that at least?

Quitelikeit · 09/05/2025 14:58

Tell me a little about how you came to be involved and I’ll help you out on why you are now changing to a different plan

Titasaducksarse · 09/05/2025 15:07

She can't just change the plan. They'd be an Initial Child Protection Conference first which is multi agency Inc parents, police, education, health etc.
Then a decision made if the children need to be made subject to a CP plan.
You'll have sight of the Conference report beforehand.

SilviaSnuffleBum · 09/05/2025 18:19

I very much doubt the Social Worker is plotting.
Changing from a Children in Need plan to a Child Protection plan is a process. It doesn't happen for no reason, or just because someone randomly feels like changing it.

Theunamedcat · 09/05/2025 18:25

Have you failed to complete something? Or not taken advice on next steps

Saying that isn't there a limit on time spent on child in need? I remember my friend being "in need" for ages they couldn't step it down so they stepped it up then later stepped it back down to child in need almost resetting the system her circumstances never actually changed

Ilovethewild · 09/05/2025 18:32

The social worker is concerned about your child’s safety, and more needs to be done to reduce those risks.

you should seek legal advice asap to safeguard your child and so you can fully understand the concerns.

go to a family solicitor asap, google can help find one nearby you or goto a CAB or local law service for advice.

Is there someone who you trust? A friend, another mum, someone in your family who is good with paperwork?

If so, give them all of the emails, paperwork etc and they’ll be able to explain the reason.
