My son is 18 and is going to his prom next month. He has been wanting a grey suit. We went on Sunday and bought him one. His girlfriend doesn’t like it . Whilst we were there he said what about black. When he was in the changing rooms she had said k font like the grey it is to light get black. The grey looked really nice.we bought the grey one. Today he has gone back to the shop to look at getting a black one. It did not look as nice he was pleased Ruth the grey she wants him to have black. I bought it for him. His dad said he should be paying for the suit himself. He has a weekend job. I don’t know what to do.

He’s the one wearing it. If he wants to change the grey suit for a black one, it’s up to him.

What you do is stay out of it. Not your problem. Don't give money with strings attached. So if you want to buy his prom suit that's very nice of you but he should get free choice to pick one he likes and if he wants to go with his GF choice over your then so be it.

Why are you dictating what colour he wears? Let him get what he wants

Why do you care so much? He wants black. I’ve got daughters and I didn’t have an opinion on what colour dress they wore. They chose them and I paid.

Saying that he should pay for his own suit because you want to choose the colour is madness.
