Im not sure if this is in the right place, but I had my 2nd baby 4 weeks ago today, and Im still bleeding. About 10 days ago, it was red, and for the last week, its been really light, and almost brown in colour, and I thought it was stopping, but yesterday it started being red again, and heavier. It isnt heavy , and is less than a period, but should it fluctuate like that?
Im getting worried, and fed up with it.
Thanks

Mine did that. Carried on for about 6 weeks in the end. Sorry

TheProvincialLady · 19/05/2008 10:39

Perfectly normal. Have you been doing a bit more lately? That often sets it off. If you start getting big lumps or if it smells then it could be an infection, but it's probably completely fine. Maybe a sign to take it a bit easier?

ohcomeon · 19/05/2008 10:41

Take it easy? With a 3yo and 4 week old?
hahahahahahahaha

TheProvincialLady · 19/05/2008 10:48

Oh, piece of cake

flubdub · 19/05/2008 15:56

So should it virtually stop, then start again? Its been quite heavy today, and tbh, im quite worried.

systemsaddict · 19/05/2008 16:00

Yes, mine was just like that flubdub, nearly stopped several times then started again heavier - normally when I started doing just a little bit more. For me it went on at least 6 weeks, actually I think a bit longer. If you're worried, call the midwife or GP, but it sounds very normal.

windygalestoday · 19/05/2008 16:03

i bled for at least 6 weeks with all 3 of mine and it gets better and then worse deoendant on how youve xerted yourself my midwife told me it was mother natures way of telling me off

JackieNo · 19/05/2008 16:06

Yes - sounds like me - I bled for up to 8 weeks with both mine - came and went depending on how active I was being. But if you're worried, definitely mention it to the GP or HV.

chipmonkey · 19/05/2008 16:25

I find if I've bfed a lot that day that the bleeding increases.

deaftowhingeing · 19/05/2008 20:52

nearly 10 weeks both of mine. Lovely isn't it

ECLAIR67 · 20/05/2008 19:38

I'M JUST ABOUT TOGO INTO MY 6TH WEEK AFTER MY 1ST BUNDLE OF JOY AND WAS WONDERING IF WAS THE NORM.

geekymummy · 20/05/2008 20:48

Twas 8 weeks for me...

onepieceoflollipop · 20/05/2008 20:51

Just over 8 weeks for me as well. It got a lot lighter after about 4-5 weeks, then nearer the end got a bit heavier again. GP said she would do further check/internal if it had carried on a lot longer than that.

Tbh it really was annoying. I felt a bit grotty anyway with leaky boobs without that as well. Would be better if you could wear tampons instead of pads bet obviously that isn't recommended. (I didn't risk it).

12 weeks for me. GP said at 6 weeks that there wasn't a lot they could do as I was bfing - eventually I passed a dice sized lump of what I think was placenta and the bleeding stopped completely.

flubdub · 28/05/2008 17:48

Its still going on folks. It virtually stopped again, and now its all fired up again, quite heavy too.
Is this right?

SHEENA1 · 28/05/2008 17:55

I was bleeding for 8 weeks after ds

bearmama · 28/05/2008 17:58

Nearly seven weeks and fingers crossed is tailing off now. Total PITA.

flubdub · 28/05/2008 18:42

But did it stop and start?

MaltesersAndMarmite · 28/05/2008 21:52

Mine stopped and started for 8- 10 weeks, had check ups and swabs etc and everything was fine. Only really sorted it out when my periods started again, and it took me a while to realise that I was having a period and not just still bleeding if you see what I mean (tmi?!). Get yourself to a doctor to put your mind at rest as the stress won't help. It's the last thing you need to be worrying about on top of everything else you have to do. Hope it gets better soon.
