Y3 Girls play dates

Hi,

Sorry if this is a bit of a silly question, but I’m looking for some inspiration on how others manage playdates for Year 3 girls.

We’ve hosted a few recently, but my daughter often ends up coming to me during the playdate asking what they should do. I had assumed they’d naturally play with the toys she has, but that hasn’t really happened — so I’m wondering if others have experienced the same, and if you have any tips for helping playdates run a bit more smoothly?

She’s had playdates over the years, but I’m a bit out of ideas at the moment!

thank you!

Homemade playdoh!

1 cup four
1/2 cup salt
1 cup boiling water
Tbsp tartar
Bit of oil!
food colouring!

They're 7 and 8? Shouldn't they be outside skipping, scooting, jumping around on trampoline, clapping games and inside playing dolls/sylvanian families, drawing, art, board games etc

How do they not know how to play together? What do they do at school? Confused

I’ve noticed this more in the last year than previously; I think maybe their interests become more specific. Now I’ll often suggest board games like twister to play or suggest they make some kind of craft. More often now I suggest taking them out too rather than just be at home

Goodness gracious me. Why can’t children entertain themselves anymore? I see it in schools, too. They’re so used to being told what to do all the time. It’s kind of sad.

OP, does your daughter like crafts? Maybe get her and her friends some little craft kits from hobbycraft, or if the weather is as beautiful as it has been, tell the other girls to bring swimsuits and get them in the paddling pool.
