My 15 year old daughter is very insecure about her acne and weight. My poor baby has acne all over her face. She is also a little over 200 pounds. Does anyone have any advice ?

Your 15yo daughter is over 14 stone? Do you think she has an unhealthy lifestyle? Does she think it's unhealthy?

This thread is a duplicate of
https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/parenting/5325869-my-daughter-is-insecure-about-her-acne-and-weight?utmcampaign=thread&utmmedium=appshare - checking for PCOS has already been suggested on there.

you might want to report one or other thread and ask it be deleted, OP, to avoid repetition/confusion.

She's very active but she also eats a lot. Maybe she should change her diet.

My son had quite severe acne and the GP prescribed AB’s and a cream with a referral (months away) to a dermatologist. I’m hopeful we won’t need that as his skin is so much better already, approx 6 weeks in.

Is that your entire insight?

How tall is she? Have you checked her BMI / percentile for her height and weight?

What is her diet like?

Does she exercise? Walk to school? Do you drive her everywhere?

Fossilhunters · 30/04/2025 18:40

This screams PCOS, please get her some blood tests.

She's 5 feet 8 inches. She walks to school, and she does soccer. Unofficially, she will play other types of sports with the other girls.
I have not check BMI

Her BMI is in the overweight range. If she was an adult, it would be in the obese range.

Speak to your GP above both her skin and her weight.

Itchyblister · 30/04/2025 19:25

This won’t have happened overnight

far far from it
so that begs the question… what have you done in the months building up to this to address these issues?

No maybe about it. No point just being down about it. Needs ti take action and support to do it.
The doctor can help with her bad skin.
