Books for 5yo boys?

I need to get some birthday presents for 5yo boys. Their mum has suggested books - any suggestions? (NB, as far as I'm aware they're not free readers, so this would be for their mum to read to them). Thanks!

How about Claude books? They were a hit here at that age.

Other options are easy encyclopaedia type books, e.g. about space / rocks and fossils. These grow nicely with the child.
