Have I sent the invites too early?

DS wants his birthday at a particular venue which is quite popular and needs booked quite far in advance. Managed to get it booked today for his birthday at the start of June and sent a WhatsApp message out to the class WhatsApp to invite them. Just realized we've invited everyone 6 weeks in advance and this might seem strange. Probably wouldn't have given this much notice only we booked it today, is 6 weeks too much notice?

Not if you follow it up nearer the time

No , it’s fine

Totally normal in our group. But a reminder week or two before is helpful!

Don’t worry overthinking your DC’s birthday party is very normal!

This seems totally normal to me. One of the mums in my daughter's class used to send out birthday invitations 6 months in advance 😂

Sounds fine to me too. It will give everyone a chance to pout the date in their dairies and hopefully reply. It will also give you time to chase up the ones they haven’t replied.

Agree that a reminder will be useful too Smile

no not at all
just remember to send a reminder

WaltzingWaters · 26/04/2025 07:55

Yeah 6 weeks is completely fine. Send a reminder a week before.

You did the right thing. I once booked the venue, didn’t send the invite, and another child sent a whole class invite for the same time before us.

DC is year 4 now and the fenzy of class parties has happily passed. I don’t miss all those Saturdays at leisure centres.

Nope totally fine. I have done the same.
